Ensuring a fire system is clean is an easy way to prevent fire disaster in a home. Performing this activity more often guarantees the best results from a fire place. In addition to the best results from a fireplace, it maintains the area and keeps the home safe and durable. The process requires some considerations. Below are some of the guidelines in chimney cleaning.

Being a complex activity to conduct, home owners can decide to do it on their own or hire qualified cleaners to do the job. In the case where the owner is to conduct the activity, it is advisable for one to do some research to identify and get the required tools for the job and know the best procedure to do the work. A fire place being a hard place to access in the house requires a lot of precautions and special tools to clean. The tools will protect the person cleaning from harm and ensure the work is done completely. Some of the protective tools are the gloves, helmets, and masks. The tools to be used in the cleaning are wires or poly brush, a flexible rope or rod, covering cloths and collection bucket.

The methods mostly used to conduct the procedures are top to bottom which is done with a flexible rod or rope, bottom to top method done with a flexible rod, dual line method that is done with both a rope and a flexible rod and lastly the weight method that is done using ropes and weights. The radius of the fire area to be cleaned will determine the method used for the whole process.

In all the cleaning procedures, the walls of the exhaust shaft are the first areas to be cleaned. The reason is that it is the most important part of the fire system and it gets blocked with that accumulation of suit. It is also the largest area to be cleaned and there for requires more work to be done to it. The process may also result in the production of dust a hence it should be done first.

After the smoke passage is cleaned, the fire place too should be checked. The grills that hold the fire wood and the ash should be cleaned. This will allow checking for the weakness in the area and if any replacements are required. Collecting the ash will ensure that there is enough space for the fire wood and area for the fire to light at.

Taking the precautions before and during the process will ensure the person cleaning is safe and the furniture is protected from the dust. Putting on the cleaning gear and covering the furniture near the area will ensure are most important precautions to note.

A clean fire place will reduce fire accidents and keep a home safe. With above guidelines, the fire place will be a comfortable area in a home setup.
